My oh My! It's been a while since my last post, and what a wild ride it has been since then! My last blog post was over a year ago, excitedly sharing that I was about to start a wonderful role working at a local wildlife rescue centre and that'll be where we begine for todays little tale.
Working for RSPCA Oak and Furrows, was the most incredible, precious and blessed esperience I have ever had, but it was also, in equal measure, one of the most disheartening, frustrating and disappointing experiences I have ever had too. I don't want to droll on about the negative aspects of my time there, as it is suffice to say the animals were incredible, the humans not so, in particular RSPCA management (or lack of)! I guess one left the position with a renewed appreciation for self-employment and actually how much I have achieved, the beautiful calibre of people I have met, and self-develpment over the last 15 years. But let's focus on the animals... 'cause that's what we all love xx
Before I started working at RSPCA I was about to embark on a journey of creating art every day with my focus being on British wildlife, flora and fauna, and every month I was to focus on one animal, one bird and one flower, to study and create a collection of art works for each and I mapped my studies for the year ahead . Well, as soon as I started it felt inauthentic that I never had direct experience for any of these subjects and made it my mission to seek them out in the real world to, observe and be inspired from life and not rely on Pinterest reference images! To my absolute disbeleif... and this was the magical bit, my time at the RSPCA, I was able to hands-on, up-close, rehabilitate these wild animals and birds in exactly the same order that I listed on my monthly tasks. Whaaaat?!?! And it was the most cherished, sacred and intimate experience of my life nursing foxes and watching them grow, feeding nestling starlings and witnessing their iridescent feathers bloom, hand-rearing crows, rooks and magpies back to the wild, helping Headgehogs back to health... so incredibly precious, and a direction to focus my art, I guess wishes really do come true,
So fast forward to the present, with a montage of a years worth of drawings and paintings to summerise, I am absolutely thrilled to say that TODAY, Sunday 13th October at 7pm, I will be launching my first ART DROP on my website shop with my first collections of artworks including the very popular social media challenges of 30 Foxes, in 30 minutes in 30 days, and 30 Hedgehogs in 30 minutes in 30 days to start. There will be many more artworks added over the next year, and I will be delighted to inform you here of the next collection launch, with those being subscibed to my website with the first to know xx
I'm excited, and so flippin' nervous. It's taken a lot of work to get here so I feel this is as gentle way to start putting myself out there without it all being a bit too overwhelming, it's been a long time overdue, but those who know me know I like a good 'ol faff and I'll get round to getting it done eventually xx
I hope you enjoy the art and what's more to come, and I would love your feedback as always (terrified of any technical issues!)
